Salary of domestic workers

Domestic employees (child minders, cleaning staff, etc.) are employed by the families who use our services. They receive a salary at the end of each month, which depends on the number of working hours defined contractually. Overtime must be added to the salary or compensated by leave of the same duration.

The minimum wage for a domestic employee is regulated by the standard domestic economy contracts of the canton of residence of the family/employer.

In any case, we recommend paying your employee at least CHF 25.- / hour in the canton of Geneva.

Note that, in estimating your costs in hiring a house keeper, you will have to add the employers' charges, ie around 10 to 15% of the gross salary.

The cost of a housekeeper is quite high but you have to remember that these trusted employees take care of what is most precious to you in the world, your children.
